FOOD & WINE - what to expect
Waiheke Island is internationally regarded for its incredible wine and food, it is a foodie's haven, brimming with artisan food & wine producers, vineyards and vibrant seaside eateries. The wine you will be sampling is among the best in the world, and the places we eat at thoughtfully chosen for their unique characters, amazing locations and renowned hospitality.
The 3 day 2 night walking Holiday
Along with the fabulous walks, you will have the opportunity for sampling the local hospitality. Picnic lunches are provided but if you prefer there are many opportunities to eat out. Day 1 gives you the chance to explore the village of Oneroa and it’s many eating options, from casual cafes to upmarket restaurants. Or grab lunch in Palm Beach - the choice is yours.
Your evening meal the first night is prepared by your host and chef, Vicki. The second night you wander only 10 minutes walk to all the fabulous Onetangi Beach options. Ki Māha, Three Seven Two and Charlie’s or classic Fish and Chips on the beach! Also not far is the stunning wineries Te Motu and Casita Miro.
Breakfast is a table laid of continental goodies you can enjoy. Vicki prepares lovely simple picnic lunches each morning to take with you on your walk. Day 3 sees you finishing your walk at the wonderful world-class Mudbrick Winery where you may enjoy a wine tasting or treats before depart the island.
The 4 day 3 night te Ara Hura challenge
Along with all the options mentioned above you have an extra dinner at 'home' - cooked for you by your host Vicki, who is not only a fantastic walking guide, but has spent many years as a private chef for luxury super yachts! Sailing the world she was constantly inspired where ever she went - sampling the best, freshest, local ingredients from around the world, and sharing it with those she cooked for. With feet now firmly on the ground, she relishes the idea of bringing you the best Waiheke has to offer, and sharing it with you in the most incredible of settings.
Vicki will prepare you a delicious picnic lunch for each day, and will be eaten on a tranquil beach or spot with a spectacular view, or choose from the superb menus at one of the stunning wineries along the trail. (Any optional winery lunches and cafe meals are not included in the price of your walk, which allows you to choose anything you desire from these wonderful places).
Note:
Please bring your own snacks if your are very particular about your walking requirements, otherwise some sweets and muesli bars are provided for you. Dietary restrictions can be catered for with advance notice, no problem! Just let us know when you book.
